When you rename a team or move it to a different location in your organisational hierarchy, Teamgage will ask how you'd like to apply the change.
This determines how existing team memberships and historical results are treated. Choosing the right option ensures your reporting accurately reflects either your current organisational structure or the historical structure at the time feedback was submitted.
You'll see these options whenever you:
- Rename a team
- Move a team to a different parent team
Membership Change Options
For All Time
Use this option if the change should apply across the team's entire history. This moves both the team members and all historical submissions into the updated team or hierarchy.
Best for:
- Correcting a mistake in your hierarchy
- Renaming a team where you want all historical results to use the new name
- Moving a team that was originally created in the wrong location
From Today
Use this option if the organisational change starts today. Current team members move immediately, but all previous results remain in the original team or hierarchy.
This preserves your historical reporting exactly as it was before today's change.
Best for:
- A restructure taking effect today
- A team moving to a different department from today onwards
- A team being renamed from today
From Date
Use this option when the organisational change happened in the past and you're updating Teamgage after the fact. You simply choose the date the change became effective.
Results before that date remain in the original team. Results from the selected date onwards move into the new team or hierarchy.
Best for:
- Backdating an organisational restructure
- Reflecting a historical team name change
- Updating Teamgage after HR changes have already occurred
Example: Moving a Team
Imagine your organisation originally looked like this:
Moves all users and all historical results into the new location. In this example, every historical People & Culture submission will now appear under: Entire Organisation → People & Culture
It will be as though the team had always existed in that location.
From Today
Moves current team members to the new location but keeps all historical results in the original structure. In this example:
- Results before today remain under Entire Organisation → Corporate Services → People & Culture
- New submissions from today onwards appear under Entire Organisation → People & Culture
This option is useful when the restructure is happening from today and you want to preserve historical reporting.
From Date
Moves the team and its results from a specific date onwards. For example, if the organisational restructure officially took effect on 1 July, but you're updating Teamgage on 15 July, choose From Date and select 1 July.
The outcome is:
- Results before 1 July remain under Corporate Services → People & Culture
- Results from 1 July onwards appear under the new People & Culture division
This provides the most accurate historical reporting when organisational changes are applied after the fact.
