Understanding the Average Score in Huddle

The Average Score in Huddle is the average of all metric scores. It provides a single, overall view of how your team is tracking across all measured areas.

How to use the Average Score

The most important aspect of the Average Score is the change over time between submissions. When reviewing changes in your Average Score, consider asking your team:
  1. Have we improved? If so, what has changed and what is working well?
  2. If not, what could we do differently to improve?
  3. What context do I need as a leader to better understand how the team is currently performing?

Is the Average Score an Engagement Score?

Not necessarily.
Your team’s Average Score is only a true Engagement Score if your metrics have been specifically designed and validated as measures of engagement.
In most Teamgage setups, metrics are drivers of engagement rather than direct engagement measures. In this case, the Average Score reflects underlying conditions that influence engagement, meaning:
  1. Higher Average Scores generally indicate a higher likelihood of strong engagement outcomes
  2. Improvements in the Average Score often lead to improvements in engagement over time
If you require a validated academic Engagement Score, consider running an Engagement Survey. Please reach out to your dedicated Teamgage Export to discuss options.

Interpreting the colours

Info
These ranges can be customised at an organisational level.

FAQs

How is the Average Score calculated?
The Average Score is calculated by averaging all metric scores across submissions within the selected date range. If a user submits multiple responses, their scores are first averaged to ensure they don’t disproportionately influence the overall result.

What happens if a user submits multiple responses within the selected date range?
If a user submits multiple responses within the selected date range, their submissions are averaged before being included in the overall dashboard score.
