What It Means When Your Comment Is Hidden

What It Means When Your Comment Is Hidden

At Teamgage, transparency and anonymity are core to the experience. We believe anonymity empowers team members to be honest, share ideas freely, and raise concerns that drive continuous improvement, no matter their role or level in the organisation. However, there may be rare occasions where a comment is hidden by a Leader or Admin due to various reasons. If that happens, you’ll receive a notification explaining why. This article explains what that notification means, why a comment may be hidden, and what you can do if you’d like to discuss it further.

What It Means When Your Comment Is Hidden

If a comment you've submitted is hidden, you’ll receive a notification via your organisation’s usual communication method.
The notification will include:
  1. A reason for why the comment was hidden (e.g. privacy/security/discretion issue, bullying or harassment, inappropriate language)
  2. An optional message from your Leader or Admin, if they’ve added one
  3. A button to start a conversation, if you’d like to understand more or follow up directly and anonymously. Learn more about using Teamgage Conversations

Why Comments May Be Hidden

While Teamgage does not remove comments itself, organisations using Teamgage can choose to hide a comment if they believe it's not appropriate to share with the wider team.
Examples may include:
  1. Personal or identifying information
  2. Language that goes against workplace values
  3. Highly sensitive topics that require a different channel
  4. Comments unrelated to the team's focus

Hiding a comment isn’t about silencing feedback, it’s about making sure the shared feedback environment remains safe, constructive, and relevant for everyone.

Here's What It Looks Like

Does This Affect My Anonymity?

No. Your anonymity is never compromised.
Even when a comment is hidden or responded to, your identity is still protected by Teamgage Shield. Leaders will never know who submitted the original comment, unless you choose to identify yourself in a follow-up conversation.

Want To Talk About It?

If you’d like to understand more about why your comment was hidden, you can choose to start a private, anonymous conversation with your Leader straight from the notification.
This gives you the opportunity to:
  1. Ask for more context
  2. Share your intent behind the comment
  3. Keep the conversation going in a safe and respectful way
There’s no pressure to respond, but the option is there if you want to be heard and understood.

Teamgage exists to build better teams, and sometimes, that means handling difficult moments with clarity, fairness, and trust.
