Understanding the Huddle Dashboard Date Range & Compare to
Teamgage Huddle doesn't operate as an open/close survey. This is to ensure that there is a continuous timeline and real-time snapshot of data for teams any time they view results. For all reports across Huddle to analyse results you need to set the date range that you want to see submissions from.
How to compare results over a period of time
When comparing results, you can update the:
- Date Range - The date range of the results you're looking at.
- This is the main number in your Metric card
- Default is set to current month (This month)
- Compare to - The date range that you'd like to compare the results on Date to.
- This is the date range that will help calculate the Change number in your Metric card
- There is no Default set
This way you can compare the results for the date range selected (Date Range) against the results for a different period (Compare to) and see how results have changed between those two periods and look for improvements or areas for development.
As an example
- You might want to report on the first quarter of the calendar year (Jan 1 - Mar 31) and compare to the last quarter of the previous year (Oct 1 - Dec 31).
- Select in Date Range: January 1st - March 31st
- Select in Compare to: October 1st - December 31st
- You can set the Compare to date range be the period between your last meeting up until your next Huddle Notification
Hint! Use the Launch Page to see the date of your last meeting.
- Alternatively, you can set to any period e.g. Last quarter
Here's why it is useful
Lets say a team in February 2024 had a Teamgage dashboard full of results in amber and red. It’s a disaster. They then get a new leader and do lots of work to make things better.
Today their dashboard with a Date Range of 5th - 11th of May 2024 is all green. Awesome! They can then set Compare to as “18th - 24th February 2024" to see exactly how much positive change there has been. Workload Management has changed by +5 in that month, while Blockers has changed by +4. This is really good validation for the team that what there're doing is working.
FAQs
Q: Is there a way I can look at the monthly response rate or number of responses between specific dates in Huddle?
A: Yes you can view month by month activity in the Activity Tab in the Team Results Dashboard - see this article for more information:
Activity Tab. Total submissions between 2 dates can be accessed via the Benchmark Reports - see this article for more information:
Using Benchmark Reports.
Q: What happens when someone submits multiple times in that date range?
A: If a user has submitted more than once in that period, their submissions will be averaged first before being included in the group of submissions to ensure their submissions aren’t over represented.
Q: How will this impact the timeline view?
A: Timelines will now default to monthly units, aligned to calendar months. Huddle Notification Schedule units will be available as an option if there is enough data to show a result and maintain anonymity
Q: What will the date range be for this quarter and last quarter if it is the middle of March?
A: In the middle of March the date ranges will be:
- Last Quarter will be October - December of the previous year
- This Quarter will be January - Today (not a complete quarter)
