Using Heatmaps – Grid View
The Heatmap Grid View is the default Heatmap view in Teamgage. It provides a structured, table-based way to analyse results, activity and engagement across teams, helping leaders and admins compare performance and drill into detail.
This view is ideal for operational reviews, detailed analysis and identifying specific areas for action.
How To View The Heatmap Grid View
The Heatmap Grid View is shown by default when you open a Heatmap.
To access it:
- Log into Teamgage
- Navigate to Huddle > Results from the left-hand menu
- Click on the Entire Organisation or the highest team within your division (which have sub-teams under it)
- Click on the Heatmap tab found at the top of the Results Dashboard
You'll land directly in the Grid View.

Understanding The Grid View Layout
When you first open a Heatmap Grid View, you’ll see your top-level teams and their comparative activity and results. This provides a high-level snapshot of performance across the organisation.
A Heatmap is divided into the following main areas:
- Team List - A list of all teams in your organisation*
- Depending on your structure, you may need to expand a parent team (i.e. a department) to view specific sub-teams
- Teamgage Results - Displays the response rate & metrics your organisation is tracking
- Comments - Shows top themes and sentiment captured in comments, including:
- Total comments
- Comments per submission
- Leader Activity - Highlights how leaders are engaging with their results, including:
- Report views
- Results shared
- Views of shared results
- Actions created and completed
- Team Member Changes - Tracks team movement, including:
- Members joining teams
- Members leaving the organisation
*The teams you can see are determined by your report level access granted to you by your Teamgage Administrator. If you can't see a team you expect to, contact your Teamgage Admin or email support@teamgage.com so we can review your access
Heatmap Grid View Features
Absolute vs Relative Results
Absolute Results
Absolute results show the actual scores and activity values based on submitted feedback and recorded actions.
Use absolute results when you want to:
- Review current performance
- Understand raw scores and engagement levels
Here's What It Looks Like
Relative Results (Compare To)
Relative results show how teams are performing in comparison to a benchmark, such as:
- A previous period (i.e. last submission cycle or last year)
- The entire organisation
Example: A score of -2 in Accountability means the team scored 2 points lower than the selected comparison.
Relative results are useful for spotting trends and under- or over-performance.

Expanding Teams
You can expand teams in the left-hand hierarchy panel to:
- Drill into sub teams
- View results at a more detailed level
Teams can be expanded individually, or you can choose to expand all teams at once.

Filtering & Sorting
The Heatmaps Grid View allows you to:
- Sort results by any column
- Filter results using your organisations demographic tags (i.e. Gender & Tenure).
This helps narrow your analysis and compare results across specific groups.
Here's What It Looks Like

Tooltips appear throughout the Grid View to provide additional context and explain how values are calculated.
Hover over any value to see more detail, including how results roll up across teams.
- Response Rate
