Using Heatmaps – Node View
The Heatmap Node View provides a visual, interactive way to explore organisational results. It brings your organisation’s structure to life using nodes and connections, making it easy for leaders to quickly understand what’s working, what needs attention and where to focus next.
This view is ideal for executive-level discussions, pattern recognition and strategic insight.
How To View The Heatmap Node View
- Log into Teamgage
- Navigate to Huddle > Results from the left-hand menu
- Click on the Entire Organisation or the highest team within your division (which have sub-teams under it)
- Click on the Heatmap tab found at the top of the Results Dashboard
- Choose a Huddle heatmap or Surveys heatmap
- Use the View toggle switch on the right hand side of the screen to move from Grid View to Node View
Here's What It Looks Like
Understanding The Node View Layout
When you open the Node View, you’ll see a visual representation of your organisation, made up of nodes (dots) and connecting lines.
This view allows you to move from a 10,000-ft organisational overview down into individual teams, helping you quickly spot patterns, strengths and risks.
What the Nodes Represent
- Each node represents a team within your organisation
- Connections (lines) show how teams relate to each other - see your org structure come to life!
- Node size, colour and positioning reflect relative team size, results and activity
- Nodes update in real-time as Huddle or Survey results and activity change
This makes it easy to visually compare teams without scanning rows of data.
Navigating the Node View
- Start with a whole-of-organisation view
- Use the controls on the right-hand side of the screen to zoom into specific departments or divisions
- You can also drag, pan and zoom around the org chart by moving your mouse cursor into the org chart window; then use your mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out, or keep your mouse clicked to drag and pan around the org chart
- Hover to view a team's results in more detail, or click a team to gain access to a link straight to their individual results
This supports both high-level scanning and focused exploration.
Selecting Different Metrics or Survey Questions In The Node View
On the left-hand side of the Node View, you can select which metric or survey question to display:
Start with the default selection of Average score for Huddle, or Overall for Surveys, then hover over any team in the node view. This allows you to see that team's average or overall score, plus all other individual metric or survey section scores that contributed to that outcome. You can also see the team's response rate, total comments made and comment theme analysis when available too
- Next, select one individual metric or survey section/question from the left-hand side menu for more focused insights only
- Finally check the response rate from the left-hand side menu to visually understand how that is measuring up across your organisation
Heatmap Node View Features
Absolute vs Relative Results
Absolute Results
Absolute results show the actual scores and activity values based on submitted feedback and recorded actions.
Use absolute results when you want to:
- Review current performance
- Understand raw scores and engagement levels
Here's What It Looks Like
Relative Results (Compare To)
Relative results show how teams are performing in comparison to a benchmark, such as:
- A previous period (i.e. last submission cycle or last year)
- The entire organisation
Example: A score of -2 in Accountability means the team scored 2 points lower than the selected comparison.
Relative results are useful for spotting trends and under-or over-performance.

Filtering
The Heatmaps Node View allows you to
Filter results using your organisations
demographic tags (i.e. Gender & Tenure).
This helps narrow your analysis and compare results across specific groups.
